I did a flush n fill on my transmission fluid today, getting ready for summer, and I saw a plug on the drivers side of my AX5 transmission. It was a torx and about the right level for a fill plug so I zipped it out of there.
LOTS of gear lube came pouring out and I got worried. After scraping a quarter inch of mud off the plug, i noticed it says "DO NOT REMOVE". after plenty of phone calls and research, I decided to put it back in drain it the rest of the way and fill er up and see what happened.
After doing so, the transmission is...FINE! there is nothing on the other side of the hole! I don't recommend going around pulling things out that say "DO NOT REMOVE" on them, but in this case you will be fine.
The conclusion I am going to take is that it is for a different application with a different fill level.
In short, for those of you playing along at home, the beast is still running better than ever! I'm ready for summer!
